Taking in to account the increasing population, consumption of livestock products will increase. So there will be a huge demand supply mismatch will arise. In order to fill up the gap production of milk, meat and eggs need to be further augmented. Kerala could achieve up to 72 percent sustainability in milk production. But with regard to meat, there lies a huge gap between availability and requirement. Animal protein is the cheapest protein sources through which protein malnutrition can be corrected. Promotion of livestock entrepreneurship after taking in to account the advantages of better connectivity, social media and knowledge transfer will facilitate to increase production and thereby increasing livelihood and employment opportunities in the sector. It will strengthen agribusiness sector with due emphasis to value addition, processing, logistics, e commerce and food safety issues.
