Comprehensive Interactive Livestock Entrepreneurship Advisory Portal (KVASU LEAP) Launched.

The Directorate of Entrepreneurship of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has organised ‘CONNECT – 2016’ – an Interface between farmers, scientists and officers working in associating departments such as Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development on 30th November 2016 at Mascot Hotel Trivandrum . A comprehensive interactive Livestock entrepreneurship Advisory Portal www.kvasuleap.in has been launched by Hon. MLA Smt. Bijimol E.S. in the event. Hon. MLA Sri. K. Muraleedharan presided the fuction. KVASU Leap is a highly interactive web portal supporting entrepreneurship through streamlining various activities, projects and training programmes offered by different departments. This will provide information regarding starting an enterprise, legal advisories, scientific information, supporting success stories, export, import, startups and also provides unique interactive platform for various stake holders to exchange the ideas,  practices and experiences.

Six mobile applications associated with web portal were officially launched by Hon. MLA Sri. C.K Saseendran, Dr. N.N Sasi, Director, Animal Husbandry, Sri. Biju Prabhakar IAS and Sri. Georgekutty Jacob, Director, Dairy Development Department. The mobile applications namely precision farming which will help farmers to know different aspect of resource efficient farming and the check points in smooth functioning of farms and also help them to know the budgeting of the farm and where to focus for a profitable management. Food Safety application imparting necessary knowledge in food handling and support entrepreneurs in safe food production, Indigenous Dairy Products introducing different milk products, commercial preparation and inputs required, Fodder Cultivation Application introducing different varieties of fodder and their cultivation method and productivity with pictures, Hoof Care Application to estimate productivity enhancement and cow comfort and also to aid farmers to determine when the hoof to be trimmed and how to be maintained for a  healthy production and dentition application facilitating the determination of age of the animals through anatomy of dentition are made available for the public by either  logging into www.kvasuleap.in or from google-app store. The package of practices for the Entrepreneurs and officers working in this sector has also been released by the Hon’ble Minister Shri Adv.V. S  Sunilkumar.

The keynote address was delivered by Sri. Anil Xavier IAS, Hon. Vice chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The felicitations were offered by Dr. Devada, Director, Academics and Research, Dr. Sabin George and Dr. Siilamma George, the Board of Management members of KVASU. CONNECT, the interface meeting between farmers and scientists was moderated by Dr. Sunil and Dr. Divakaran Nair. Dr. T.P Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship welcomed the gathering and Dr. Joseph Mathew, Registrar delivered vote of thanks.
